Dimapur, June 19 (EMN): Under the aegis of department of commerce, Unity College organised a talk on “Women entrepreneurship in Nagaland: Challenges of being a women entrepreneur” on June 15. The talk was organised with an objective to encourage entrepreneurial spirit and to give a platform for the students to meet and interact with the women entrepreneurs in Nagaland.
The resource persons were Bethel Tsuzu, Director of Mountain Music Academy, and Moanaro Longkumer, Managing Director of Mentor Academy.
In her talk, Bethel Tsuzu spoke on why she got into business in spite of being a musician. She mentioned that passion, frustration for scarcity and timely availability of products and the need for money were the three reasons that made her become an entrepreneur. She encouraged the students to be passionate and to never give up.
Moanaro Longkumer also spoke about her personal challenges and issues faced as a woman entrepreneur. She also spoke about the various entrepreneurial opportunities for women entrepreneurs in Nagaland and summed up her talk by advising the students to be confident and be their own boss.
In another programme, the IQAC social activities committee of Unity College observed the “World Elder Abuse Awareness Day” on June 15 on the international theme “Lifting up voices.”
To mark the day, the committee along with few students visited the Tribal Old Age Home cum Day Care Centre in Indisen village, Dimapur. The team interacted with the elders and listened to their stories of wisdom and faith. They also attended a short service organised by the Centre where a student presented a message in song.
