United Suyim Club lifts 2nd Sports Society Suyim tourney

Mokokchung, June 30 (EMN): United Suyim Club (USC) lifted the second Sports Society Suyim Tournament after defeating Young Naga Club (YNC) 2-1 in the final match at Senayangba Government Higher Secondary School ground, Ungma on Friday.

In the first half of the match, YNC unleashed a full-scale offensive but were unable to breach the defence line of the USC and remained goalless till lemon break.
Entering the second half, YNC attempted to penetrate the defence line of USC but was unsuccessful. Nevertheless, YNC’s persistence paid off when the forward players made a breakthrough around 20th minute later and scored the first goal.
After netting the goal the USC defensive tactics changed into a vigorous counter-attack. However, the YBC defence proved too strong.
The play was also greatly hampered by the soggy ground condition but USC managed to repeatedly score two goals in the last 10 minutes and clinched the championship titles.
Earlier, Imlikokba Imsong, Tatar exhorted the players and encouraged the youngster to be dedicated and build team spirit among their comrades. Short speeches were also delivered by Toshiwapang Imsong, sports secretary SSS and SSS president welcomed the audiences.

1. Highest scorer- Arenjenba (Season Star Ungma) and Suyimmayang (Salukum Rugo Ungma)
2. Best goalkeeper – Imkumer (Longtrok Sense Ungma)
3. Best midfield – Chubalemba (Orintal Club)
4. Player of the tournament – Marliba (Naga club).
5. Best defender – Pangeronen (Season Star)
6. Best striker – Maongkaba (Ever Green Club)
7. Best disciplined team – Mayang Rugo Club
