Our Correspondent Lamlai Khunou, Dec. 6 (EMN): The United Naga Council (UNC) on Wed. celebrated advent Christmas at the picturesque village of Ramrei Aze popularly known as Lamlai Khunou, about 35 km north east of Imphal under Phungyar assembly constituency in Manipur. Besides the key functionaries of the UNC including its president Gaidon Kamei, General Secretary S Milan, former MP BD Behring, leaders of various Naga bodies in Manipur and functionaries of sixteen Naga tribes attended the function. Editors of almost all important dailies in Imphal and Press Correspondents of various media houses in other parts of the country besides members of the Autonomous district councils of Senapati, Ukhrul and Chandel also attended the celebration. UNC President Gaidon Kamei while addressing the gathering said that the Christmas could not be celebrated properly because of economic blockade on two major highways traversing the Naga areas in the state on Dec. last year. The UNC functionaries felt that they could not celebrate Christmas for few years due to various reasons, however, as everything is coming in the right track people could smile and praise the lord by celebrating the Advent Christmas. Interestingly the venue-Lamlai Khunou village which currently has around 150 houses has become a new tourist destination in view of the water bodies developed around the village following the functioning of Maphou Dam by blocking the river water.
