Imphal, November 29: District police commandoes of Manipur Police department have arrested a self-styled ‘2nd lieutenant’ of the armed group Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) and an ‘active cadre’ of the Kangleipak Communist Party(KCP-Noyon group) during separate operations conducted on November 25 following reliable information, according to the PRO of the Manipur police department.
The ZUF member, identified as Taluatpao Kamei alias Johnpao (30) of Jeilatjang village of Tamenglong, was arrested by a combined team of Imphal East district police commandos and 45 Assam Rifles from Mantripukhri-Ahallup area in Manipur’s Imphal East district around 5.45 am on November 25, it said.
Incriminating articles were seized from his possession, it added.
Similarly, a cadre of the KCP (Noyon group),another armed group, identified as Md Ramijudin(25) of Labuk Leikai, Moreh ward number 5, was rounded up by a team of Imphal East district police commando during a search operation at Mantripukhri on the same day at around 8.10 in the morning.
Incriminating articles were seized from her possession, the PRO release said. Two separate cases have been registered at Heingang police station and investigation is going on.
