Dimapur, Nov. 29 (EMN): Two newly constructed roads constructed under various schemes were commissioned in the state. A newly constructed road between Khughuto village and Mudtusugho under Pughobot sub-division and the Sakraba – Chizami RD road were inaugurated recently.
In Pughoboto sub-division, former minister and sitting local MLA of Pughoboto Assembly Constituency, Y Vikheho Swu, inaugurated a newly constructed road between Khughuto village and Mudtusugho on November 30.
Inaugurating the road, Swu dedicated to the people of the area as Huska Sumi Road, a former minister of the State.
In his address, Swu informed that the fresh road cutting stretching around 6 kms was constructed under the Chief Minister’s Road Development Fund with an amount of Rs 50 lakhs. He has appreciated Mudutsugho and Khughuto village councils for their cooperation in constructing the road without any hassle.
He stated that the aim of constructing the road was to make both the villages improve their connectivity with the sub-division headquarter and also enhance their economy by reaching out to other villages.
On naming the road, the MLA stated that “late Huska Sumi was a true leader amongst the Nagas who has the concern for the welfare of Nagas as a whole and not just a tribe. Swu said the road is named after him in order to remind the people about his propagation of upholding the principle of honesty.
Swu also expressed hope that the four villages in the area would get NST services at the earliest with the opening of the road.
The MLA also unveiled the plaque marking the opening of the road.
Superintendent Engineer of PWD, Zunheboto, L Senti Jamir, in his technical report, lauded the two villages for completing the fresh cutting ahead of the stipulated period. He said the fresh construction started in June and completed in October.
In a separate programme, the Sakraba – Chizami RD road constructed under MGNREGA during 2017-18 was inaugurated by Razouvolie Dozo, Project Director of DRDA, Phek, on November 29 at Sakraba village in the presence of Veduzo Sasu, BDO RD block, Chizami.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest expressed his happiness on the success of the project and called upon the village leaders to judiciously use the fund from the government and develop the village with proper planning.
While emphasising that every village should have proper planning, he said lack of proper planning leads to misappropriation of funds provided by the government to the village for development, failure of programmes and development as well as corruption.
With the completion of the road, the distance between Sakraba and Chizami measuring 40kms has been reduced to 8 kms.
Kuhusheyi, VDB secretary of Sakraba, chaired the programme, while Thenunu, associate pastor of Sakraba Baptist Church, pronounced the invocation prayer, and folk song was presented by Vekuhuyi and Rakhutso.
Nerayi, VCC Sakraba, has thanked the Department of Rural Development and officers for providing an alternative road to the people, which would save their time and money to reach to the administrative headquarter. Velicho, deacon of SBC, pronounced the benediction.
The programme was attended by village leaders of both Centre Chakhesang and Chizami areas and Department officers from DRDA, Phek, and RD block Chizami.
