Itanagar, March 1: Former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today lodged a police complaint against some persons for allegedly uploading in social media a “fictitious deed”, which said he had sold the CM’s post to incumbent Pema Khandu in July, 2016.
Tuki, the senior most Congress MLA in the Assembly, lodged the complaint with Itanagar police station and said a news website had also uploaded the purported deed which said he had sold the CM’s post for a huge sum.
It was also alleged that four MLAs were witnesses to the signing of the purported deed.
The deed was allegedly signed on July 15 and Khandu was selected as chief minister by Congress the next day to replace Tuki, whose chief ministership had been restored by Supreme Court. The selection was made to save the party’s government and took place just hours before the restored chief minister was scheduled to take a floor test.
“Uploading of such false and fabricated document with baseless and unfounded allegations is an offence under the law. It is an offence under cyber law, which needs to be thoroughly probed and inquired into,” Tuki said in his complaint.“It (the circulation of the purported deed) needs to be stopped immediately from further circulation by arresting the culprits. “The contents of such false and fabricated documents have brought irreparable loss in my political career… (and) tarnished, defamed and maligned my name,” he said.
Alleging that some “vested interests” were behind this, Tuki mentioned two names and said the editor of the Noida-based website should also be prosecuted.
Sources close to Chief Minister Pema Khandu said they were aware of the so called deed circulated in the social media and described it as “false”.
