Dimapur, Jan. 16 (EMN): The Rengma Students’ Union (RSU) and the Rengma Selo Zi (RSZ) have relaxed the ongoing bandh “in goodwill and with hope in the wisdom of the government to deliver justice in its due time.”
A press statement issued by the RSU and RSZ presidents informed that the decision was taken in a meeting called by the Rengma Hoho on Jan. 15, taking into consideration the appeals made by the Chief Minister TR Zeliang and the elected representative of the Rengmas, Levi Rengma to pave way for a congenial environment for the government to take a reasonable decision for creation of Tseminyu district.
“As such the two organisations under the guardianship of the Rengma Hoho has taken the bet to instill fresh confidence in the government’s dedication to its citizen’s welfare and rested its confidence in the government to deliver justice to the far overdue and genuine demand for Tseminyu district,” the RSU added. However, it cautioned that further course of action would be initiated based on the government’s response.
The two organisations while expressing regret to the public for the inconvenience caused also expressed its gratitude to volunteers and general public for their cooperation and solidarity ‘ushered in towards the cause of the Rengma community’s genuine demand for Tseminyu district.’
The organisations extended its heartfelt appreciation to the Wozuro Range Union for their solidarity visit during the band and Sumi Aphuyimi Hoho for the unflinching support towards the cause.
It further thanked the Naga Civil Society organisations and the press fraternity for their unflinching support and solidarity in actions and words in the humble pursuit of the Rengma community’s fight for justice.
