Dimapur, October 7

The Karbi Anglong Truck Owners’ Welfare Association held a meeting with members of the association today at its head office at Lahorijan, Karbi Anglong and discussed at length about the indefinite bandh called by Sand Mahaldar and Suppliers Association (SMSA), Majna HQ, Karbi Anglong on export of sand to Nagaland with effect from October 10.
The meeting deliberated upon the news item that was published in local dailies of Nagaland on October 7 and clarified that Nungsang Ao who is officially known as Nungsang Jamir is the president of a government registered association Karbi Anglong Truck Owners’ Welfare Association, and not an official or a member of Truck Owners’ Union Dimapur (TOUD), as mentioned in newspaper publication.
The association expressed disappointment for falsely using the name of its president.
At the meeting, the Karbi Anglong Truck Owners’ Welfare Association also clarified to all concerned that the association had neither knowledge about the joint meeting of September 4 nor the association president Nungsang Jamir had attended. The Karbi Anglong Truck Owners’ Welfare Association, in its meeting resolved not to comply with the indefinite bandh being imposed by Sand Mahaldar and Suppliers Association.
The Karbi Anglong Truck Owners’ Welfare Association in a statement issued by its president Nungsang Jamir and secretary Obed Swu cautioned to initiate legal action against any union/association that falsely implicate the name of Karbi Anglong Truck Owners’ Welfare Association or its officials.
“The Karbi Anglong Truck Owners’ Welfare Association is law abiding organization that works for the welfare of truck owners,” the statement said and appealed to administration and law enforcing authority of Karbi Anglong to intervene into the matter to ensure smooth operation of sand carrying trucks plying along the national highways 36 and 39.
