Transport authority announces new regulations for taxis and autorickshaws

Dimapur, April 24 (EMN): The transport authority of Dimapur has informed that autorickshaws accommodating passengers “beside the driver” is strictly prohibited.
A press release on Monday stated that the decision was taken on April 20 last. “Drivers of autorickshaw are hereby directed to accommodate the passenger as per the seating capacity, accommodating passenger beside the rriver is strictly prohibited.
“All autorickshaws are made mandatory to fix safety rod on the right side of the passenger seat. Autorickshaw is prohibited to ply on the highway beyond Patkai Bridge”, it informed.
It also informed that from May 1 next, taxi fares have been revised as:
 Chumukedima to Kohima & vice versa @ Rs. 200/- per passenger
 Chumukedima to Medziphema & vice versa @ Rs. 80/- per passenger.
“Private Bus operators ie; interstate/inter-district and Assam line buses operating from the Blue Hill station/Golaghat road stretch are directed to shift to Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) Purana Bazaar wef: 1st May’2017. Strict action will be taken for non compliance,” it informed.
