Training of community first responder underway in Phek

Dimapur, October 3: A five-day Training of Trainers (ToT) on community first responder in Phek began on October 3. The programme is being organised by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Phek, in collaboration with Civil Defence & Home Guard (CD&HG), and Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) & SDRF. The training, supported by Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, will culminate on October 7. In the opening remarks, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman DDMA, Phek, Murohu Chotso stressed on the need of such programmes to keep ourselves alert as disasters may occur at any time. He mentioned that disasters can be in the form of hail storms, famines, forest fires, earthquakes etc as well as manmade.While thanking the good efforts of the government in advocating our safety, he also dwelt on climate change and its effects on the environment. The function was chaired by SDO (C) Phek, Nukutulu S Venuh, while a briefing on the training was delivered by Redemo Shitio, State Emergency Response Officer, NSDMA. The vote of thanks was pronounced by Vekuzo Lohe, District Project Associate, Phek NSDMA.
