• ‘New CM’s appointment an eyewash’

• ‘Still holds status in government’

• Home Minister etc. must be ‘reallocated’

Dimapur, Feb. 26: The Diphupar Village Council and Diphupar Naga Youth Organisation have warned that the Diphupar public shall not be considered accountable for further “chaos” now that former chief minister of Nagaland TR Zeliang enjoys a Cabinet status in the government after ‘eyewash’ appointments made by new Chief Minister Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu.

The village council issued a copy of a bitterly-worded ‘open letter’ on Sunday, February 26, addressed to the Joint Action Committee, which spearheaded the recent wave of agitation against the municipal elections. The statement spoke grimly in vehemence that the goals of the agitations led by the JCC had not been
“If he continues to hold the status he has been given the Nagaland will burn further more,” the council warned while lamenting that the goals of the recent agitations had not been achieved.

Among others demands, the council has also demanded that the Home Minister and Parliamentary Secretary of Municipal Affairs of the former TR Zeliang’s ministry be “reallocated.”

Here, the council stated that the public of Diphupar had responded to the call to action spearheaded by JCC against the Urban Local Body elections. The public of Diphupar with its youths participated, the council said.

“In the processes, two most brave youths and sons of Diphupar viz. Khriesavizo Metha and Bendangnungsang Longkumer gave their life to protect the rights of Nagas,” the council stated.

As a token to their ‘supreme sacrifice, the village council had placed three demands “that should have been fulfilled before their moral remains are buried.” The demands the council stated were the resignation of TR Zeliang from the post of chief minister, suspension of the commissioner of Dimapur Police and to terminate services of the IRB who killed the two youths; nullification of the municipal and town council elections.

The council said it appreciated TR Zeliang stepping down from the post of chief minister. However, the letter stated, “the portfolio and status he has been given by the present Chief Minister Dr. Shurhozelie is appeared (sic) to be an eye wash as the blood of our most precious sons / brother have not yet dried and that the justice will not be delivered as long as he enjoys his current status.”

He may have stepped down, the council said, “But the solution is not yet found.”

The Diphupar organisations have made clear that if he continues to “hold the status” he has been given “Nagaland will burn further more. If he is given the post of chief minister in future that shall tantamount to betrayal and shall lead to more bloodshed.”

To ensure justice, the Diphupar Village Council has demanded that the minister for Home and Parliamentary Secretary of Municipal Affairs of the TR Zeliang’s ministry should be “reallocated.”

JCC and now NTAC, it added, are requested to initiate appropriate steps “to avoid further turmoil and chaos in the state for which public of Diphupar village shall not be held responsible.”
