Dimapur, April 17 (EMN): A construction for youth hall at Tobu which was sanctioned under SPA 2009-11 with 24 months duration to complete the work has been abandoned for the past seven years.
According to the RTI reports, a total amount of INR 83 lakh has been withdrawn by the construction agency. This was stated in a press release received here on Tuesday from the Tobu Area Students’ Union (TASU) president and general secretary.
The students’ union sought explanation from the implementing partner where the amount withdrawn has been utilized.
The union demanded the constructing agency executive engineer PWD (H), Youth Resource and Sports and the contractor of NK Construction agency (Regd No. NPW/CL-1/225) to present the detail report on the status of the youth hall construction at Tobu HQ within ten days to the union office and start execution of work within 20 days.
Even after repeated reminders from different organizations, the union said that the concerned contractor was adamant to the queries raised.
“The silence of the contractor towards the queries raised by the Tobu Town Students’ Union (TTSU) at local newspaper several times directly reflects the ignorance over the concern raised by the student union,” the union stated.
The union gave a final call to the contractor and the implementing partner stating that no justification will be accepted if they fail to respond and act within the stipulated time.
It also warned that the union will not be held responsible if any untoward incident happen after the expiry of the notice.
Also, the students’ body has informed head of departments posted at Tobu headquaerter to be in station as TASU team will be visiting all the office under Tobu sub-division starting from May to review the activities and programmes that are implemented by departments.
