Dimapur, May 17 (EMN): In a startling revelation, Tobu Area Students’ Union (TASU) has alleged of mass proxy teaching in the absence of Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO), where even persons failing to qualify HSLC examinations were recruited as teachers in the division.
Stating that SDEO has not been posted for the last three months in the sub-division, the union president Sangti Konyak, has sought immediate intervention from the higher authority to find remedy into the problem.
With a total of 45 government and eight private schools functioning under SDEO Tobu sub-division, the union has expressed disappointments towards the department for failing to understand the grievances face by the teachers as well as students community.
In the absence of SDEO, the union stated that assignments for file management of ministerial staff like AEO, SIS and JEOs often get delayed causing lots of hardship in addressing the needs of students community.
As Tobu sub-division is located 118 kms from Mon headquarter, the union stated that the distance renders difficulty for the teacher in-charge and VECs to travel especially during the monsoon season just for paper works at Mon headquarter.
The union affirmed that was ever ready to render its cooperation and assistance towards the concerned department in scaling up the education system under Tobu sub-division provided the latter also understand and perform its duty for the uplift of the students community.
The union has appealed to the concerned department to depute a committed officer within a period of 30 days, who is ready to work for the backward areas. It however asked the department not to depute senior officers, who are at the verge of retirement.
Meanwhile, TASU has announced to undertake an educational tour beginning from June 21. IN this connection, the union has asked all the VECs along with student leaders to be stationed with all the records and documents. During the tour TASU officials would visit all the schools as well as the PHCs and sub-centres.
