The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) chief, K Therie has likened the current Assembly discussion on the Naga political issue to “sixty blind men trying to identify the elephant for the last two days.”
In a press release issued on Saturday, Therie employed this rather intriguing analogy to underscore the general confusion that currently surrounds the Indo-Naga peace talks. “Some say the elephant is like 80%, some say ‘then 20% of the elephant will be missing.’ Some say all factions should also feel the elephant while some say the elephant should be shown to the public.
“Solution should be inclusive, ‘Solution should be acceptable to the public’; ‘Solution is working out to be in favor Nagaland’; ‘We will accept what is acceptable to our people.’ So the 60 blind wise men say about Nagaland Political problem.“Another blind man from Delhi says ‘if I give you the elephant and you don’t accept it will become more problem’,” Therie stated, paraphrasing the catchphrases that, over the years, have become synonymous with the Naga solution. In such a scenario, Therie wondered, “can we expect any solution from these people?”
