Dimapur, August 5 (EMN): The extended infighting within NPF – for so many years, the undisputed power centre of Nagaland politics – has more or less spelled the end of the party’s dominance in Nagaland, according to the president of NPCC, K Therie.
A press release from the Congress leader on Saturday stated him as that the ‘future of NPF is no more in Nagaland and that it has been reduced to a fragmented, divided party fighting for their own interests and not for the public’. He was addressing party workers at Pfütsero town, his constituency.
According to the statement, the 16-Pfütsero ACCC members also recommended Therie as the Congress candidate from the constituency for the 2018 state elections.
“Addressing the meeting, Therie thanked the ACCC for recommending his candidature as the Congress candidate. ‘There is no development. Not even a drop of water is reaching the public’, he said and continued that the public have no wish for the present MLAs to further continue as their leaders”, the statement read.
He said the 60 MLAs have forgotten the public and were fighting for portfolios while the public dare not question them because of the corrupt practices during the election, it stated. “There is no guarantee that the 60 blind MLAs are confident of coming back in the coming general election. MLAs who endorsed the RSS ideologies should be voted out, he said.”
Therie also said that the NPF government was in fear of BJP because of its own corrupt pratices. “They fear the CBI and the NIA. The day they part ways from BJP, all the MLAs will be prosecuted”, he was quoted as saying.
“He said the although the BJP lost elections in both Manipur and Goa, it managed to form the governments by making use of the office of the governor and continues to misuse the power in Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh and other states.”
