The Unchanging Truths of Human History and the Changing Mores of Human Societies

Human mores (customs or conventions of human societies) have changed again and again through the course of human history. But there are certain truths of life that have never changed despite the changing mores of human societies. For example, in the physical and material realm of human existence, ever since the creation of Adam and Eve, all of mankind has been breathing the same oxygen, drinking the same water and eating the same cereals for all these eons of human history. In other words, the same water that Adam drank was also drunk by Moses, Alexander, Asoka and all our Naga forefathers including ourselves. This is so, because the same scientific laws governing the production of photosynthesis, germination and water is one and the same thing. Also, the same Sun and Moon that shone on these peoples of yesterday, also shines on us today.

However, in the background of such unchanging physical and material existence, man had produced a lot of .gods, goddesses and philosophies from his versatile mind. These religions and philosophies have created havoc in human history including the sacrifices of one’s own offspring to the worship of these man made gods and goddesses. Then there have been the establishments of empires where stronger nations had occupied and oppressed smaller nations. On top of this, political ideologies have also butchered millions of people in the name of so called revolutions in the course of human history. All these terrible evils are however-man made and man inflicted evils. They cannot be blamed on the living God. In other words, these horrible events of history are not a commentary on God, but a commentary on man and his cruelty to his fellowman.

The records of these evil events of history have been appearing again and again just like the face of the earth re- appearing every day before the sun. In fact, the footprints of history are not some imprints marked in shifting sands that will disappear after the winds have blown over it. On the contrary, rather than disappearing under the debris of history, the images of these footprints will ever remain in the records of history and also the collective memory of humanity. The records of all these events will finally come as evidences and witnesses on the final judgement day of the nations. This event will happen at the end of human history (Rev.11:18; Matt 25:31-46).

Therefore, the data of the violations of the rights of smaller nations by bigger nations will go on accumulating as history marches on towards the final judgement day. Rights and justice of individuals and nations would be meaningless if this fact of judgement will not be there at the end of human history. Now, the question to India and Burma (Myanmar) in the context of Nagaland boils down to this: How many more data are you going to further accumulate on your crimes against Nagaland? I ask this question because sooner or later these accounts will come to your judgement both in this life as well as the next.
