Solemn and synchronized long-lasting exertion need be put in place if the existing peace process is to be preserved by all section of the Nagas. Let all disruptive forces against peace be defeated and kept in bay. Let there be an early honorable solution to the decades old struggle.
This statement is issued to shed light on what is truth and what is false since issues being very vulnerable and the people may be carried away by such a false propaganda blaming NSCN for 4-lane project without properly ascertaining the facts and the truce to be facilitated towards other Naga groups is an futile expectation and misleading. That needs clarifications out-rightly because such phony tales and hearsay will lead us nowhere but down to the unending abyss.
Naga society today is apparently divided into two types of people. One who does all the works for common future prospect and the other who does nothing but be seated at home comfortably, criticizes and sarcastically feasts on the hard works and sacrifice of others? Some freshly formed group and un-mandated organization that falls under this category is now cunningly prowling on public podium.
The NSCN is for all the Nagas and not for a particular group as cunningly projected by some group. Freedom of expression should never be placed above the future of our nation and people. The extreme tolerance shall not be tested over and over again. It is also most regrettable that a number of own people have harkened to the deceiving schemes of Indian agencies which had caused the Naga to hurt one another. Culminating only debates and intensifies the error lines in public discourse.
People-based leaders should be made conscious of the flip side of active media stories doing their malicious broadcast every now and then by some vested. Therefore, the NSCN wish to clearly state ‘the truth’ what former Prime Minister late P.V.Narasimha Rao had said ‘he refused to recognize other Naga groups toward facilitating truce with it.’ Late Rao also stated that quote “other groups were under India’s control,” Also had stated on June 12, 1995 when he met NSCN Chairman late Isak Chishi Swu and General Secretary Th. Muivah in Paris to propose a political dialogue to resolve the Naga issue. The duo asked if his government would be talking to other groups. Late Rao replied: quote ‘Why should I talk with them? The issue is not with them. The people are with you, and so if we talk with you, we believe solution can be worked out. I will not talk with others. I know who they are. They are in my hands.’ Which clearly guarantee us that piecemeal solution is not anticipated. Backsliding from earlier commitment to peace by GoI; if swayed and overwhelmed by half-truth and misdirected agents, it will be very lamentable, the ongoing talk if it is to be obligated to disrupt due to some anti framework elements, GoI will be answerable for outburst of entire sale weakening of peace processes. The position of NSCN is very obvious that it can never by no means consented to the difficulties of India be construed as basis for collapse to permanently determine this long running case flanked by the Union of India and the Naga people.
Spray of contemptible and brutal circumstances and sequence of turbulence is already manifested by the political activities it doesn’t nevertheless amount to shrinking of legitimately approved modalities at the Indian Prime Minister level that “The Talk is between two separate entities.” Unilateral abrogation of treaty signed between two politically opposed parties will never warrant negotiated settlement.
It is this difficult task that the two parties have long raced towards the ultimate. Such extended time has also led the negotiation to enhance understanding and improved relationship. Now having crossed so many astonishing hindrances and obstacles there are still some people who are interpreted this road map as another Accord like those momentary stopgaps GoI advocated earlier. The Naga leaders have been exceptionally precautious so as not to allow any form of momentary fix to dishearten the Naga people.
If GoI truly understands the ‘Naga’s situations’, they also truly recognizes ‘Naga uniqueness’ as a political nation. It is all about Naga being placed under inequitable current political structures affecting economic lopsidedness. It is also fair to say that reasons the Naga have become stubborn in maintaining their respective positions resulting to feuds and misunderstanding are not all that home-spun; many of them are sponsored and propelled to benefit certain self-vested interests yesterday and the fallouts to be lived today.
Whether we like it or not, solution is going to be completed sooner than expected. “The caravan goes on even if the dog barks”. Naga people are anxiously longing for solution which has now reached the threshold of its political settlement. Sooner or later Nagas will triumphs over the truth. We wish that all the Naga Nationalist could jump over the common board and join the peace process irrespective of political affiliation and without any pre-condition since the door is wide open. The NSCN fervently appeal to all the section people and civil societies to come frontward and fortify peace process for honorable political settlement.
