Thai officials, businessmen visit Nagaland

Thai businessmen and government officials from the Government of Thailand were in Nagaland on March 7 to ‘study the potential’ of the upcoming India-Myanmar-Thailand trilateral highway, the directorate of Industries & Commerce informed on Thursday.

Dimapur, March 9 (EMN): A delegation of government officials from Thailand visited Nagaland on March 7. The visitors comprised four Thai government officials from the department of Business Development of the Government of Thailand; 16 delegates from import-export and logistics business companies of Thailand and an official from the Office of Commercial Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi.

The directorate of Industries & Commerce gave updates about the visit on Thursday.

The Thai business delegation travelled by road via Myanmar. They are on a tour to study and ‘tap the trade potential’ of the upcoming 3200 Kms India-Myanmar-Thailand trilateral highway designed to bridge the emerging economies of north east India, Myanmar and Thailand, it was informed.

A business meeting of the visiting Thai business delegates with the local entrepreneurs and business houses from the state was organized and held on the 7th at Hotel Vivor in Kohima.

The director Industries and Commerce Bendangliba expressed the hope that the meeting would be “the opener for future business and trade ties between the business houses of Thailand and local business houses.”

Tharadol Thongrung, Minister Counsellor (Commercial) of the Royal Thai Embassy in Delhi gave the key note address, it was informed.
