Dimapur, Nov. 9 (EMN): Central Tesophenyu Group Public Union (TGPU-C) has contradicted the statement of Kandi Public Union (KPU) which claimed to be the biggest group and with highest population of 13,762.
TGPU (C) president, Gwachung Chung, and the joint secretary, S Soyhunlo Seb, have clarified that six villages forming Kandi Public Union (KPU) has a population of 10230, while Kithagha Public Organisation (KPO) of three villages with 4,713, and Tesophenyu Group Public Union (Central) of four village with 13,667 population.
It argued that even if head count is conducted openly and physically, Kandinu group will never surpass the population of Tesophenyu group. It, therefore, urged the concerned department which had taken the mentioned population census to rectify immediately. It added that Tesophenyu group would not remain a silent spectator and let others to manipulate the department with faulty population figure.
TGPU (C) further appealed to Kandi Public Union not to jeopardise and create ugly situation but promote harmony, peace and friendly environment among northern Rengmas. It also appealed to allow construction of BDO Block office at the genuine demarcated site ascertained by Kithagha Public Organisation.
“If Kandinu public still feels that justice is not being accorded to them, an open debate with proper documents among the northern Rengma can be initiated rather than organising agitation and imposing highway bandh causing unnecessary hardships and unwanted feelings upon our other Naga tribes,” the statement said. TGPU (C) appealed to always have friendly relation among northern Rengma.
