Tetso College launches Nagaland’s first college mobile application

Dimapur, July 16 (EMN): On the occasion of its ‘24th Fresher’s Day: Salvete 2018’ held at the college campus on July 16 2018, Tetso college announced ‘Nagaland’s first College mobile app’ and ‘the Governor of Nagaland’s Dr. T Ao Scholarship Award’.
A press release issued by the college informed that 600 students from all districts of Nagaland, out of which 6 toppers from the NBSE top ten list, have joined Tetso College.

The 24th Fresher’s Day, which was held with Vice-chancellor of Nagaland University, Prof Pradeshi Lal as the guest of honour, was made more momentous because of the announcement about the launch of the ‘Nagaland’s first College mobile app’, which was ‘developed in-house’ and is available for download on the ‘android Google Playstore’.

Informing that the app will be available for download by “apple users by next week”, the college informed that the app ‘can be used by parents, students or people who want more information to keep track of college news, pay fees online and more’.

Besides, “the Governor of Nagaland’s Dr. T Ao Scholarship Award was also announced”; an award open to all ‘Tetso students’. Under this scholarship, the student must complete a field project on the theme “Naga Culture, languages, Traditions, or Folklore” and the scholarship recipient will receive a certificate, trophy and Gift Hampers from ‘Indigenous Naga Entrepreneurs’.

While highlighting about the Vice-chancellor Prof Pradeshi Lal’s speech, the release stated that the guest of honour discussed about the importance of education and advised the students not to confine oneself only to the four walls of the classroom in aiming only for the gold medal but to participate in extracurricular activities and get involved in sports.

Saying that the students should also learn to have fun and play games as well, Prof Lal asked the students to have the 3Cs in life, viz. Character, Credibility and Conscience.

Meanwhile, the Principal of Tetso College officially welcomed the Fresher’s into the Tetso Family and announced that as per the Tetso tradition ‘every new student is Mr. & Ms. Fresher’.

The occasion was made significant as the programme was organized by the newly elected Tetso Student Council without any monetary collection from the students this time, stated the release.

The release further stated that the ‘felicitation and Awards’ was presided over by the Dean of Tetso College Mhabeni Tungoe, where teacher and students were felicitated for 100% attendance in the last academic session. Certificate was also presented to the Commerce Dept for securing Gold medals in Accounting and

Finance Honours, and Management Honours in the recently declared NU Undergraduate Semester Exam 2018 Results, the release stated.
Furthermore, the release stated that the College has awarded scholarships worth INR 34 Lakhs to 67 Students to ensure that no deserving student including, special needs student, is denied admission.

The event was hosted by Khyochamo Yanthan of 5th Semester and Josaingdi Khemprai of 3rd Semester.
The program was followed up by an informal session where students showcased their talents, including a surprise performance by the band ‘Colored Keys’, the release added.
