Dimapur, Jan. 21: A number of organizations representing technical graduates have appealed to the authorities to reconsider “the corrigendum related to NPSC adv no. NPSC/ADVT-1/04 Dated 26th October 2016,” and allow the posts reserved for BTs to be opened to all candidates on the basis of merit in the forthcoming examinations.
The organizations that made said appeal are the Graduate Electrical Engineers Association (GEEAN) , Association of Mechanical Engineers of Nagaland (AMEN), Unemployed Civil Engineers Association of Nagaland (UCEAN), Forestry Graduate Association of Nagaland (FGAN), Agriculture Engineers Graduate Association of Nagaland (AEGAN), All Nagaland Unemployed Veterinary Doctors Association (ANUVDA), and the Electronics & Communication Engineers Association of Nagaland (ECEAN).A copy of a representation appended by stated groups was issued to the media on Saturday.
The organizations stated to have appealed for reconsideration of the Nagaland Public Service Commission’s (NPSC) corrigendum to allow the posts reserved for BT to be opened to all candidates on merit.
“…yet we have not received any positive (response) from the concern authorities. Therefore we are made to put forward this letter again appealing for fair and transparent exam,” the groups stated. “We would like to appeal the concerned authorities to kindly reconsider the decision as per the NPSC corrigendum where some of the posts have been reserved particularly for a BT tribe which is affecting the technical graduates of branches like mechanical engineering, E&C, IT, CS, agriculture engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering and forestry graduates.”
According to the representation, in some branches such as ‘mechanical, E&C, CS and IT,’ there have been “hardly any advertisement” and “when one post has been advertised in the recent NPSC (CTE), giving away that one post to one particular BT tribe cannot be considered fair and transparent enough.”
Further, the representation stated, according to the reservation policy “order no. RCBT-5/87(pt-II) annexure B-I 125 point rooster table,” the first vacancy is reserved for all indigenous inhabitants. Only then comes the reservation for BT tribes, they stated.
“…with reference to the reservation policy of the government of Nagaland we request all those concerned authorities to go/follow as per the rules, reconsidering making those posts be made open to all in the upcoming CTE exam 2016,” the organizations appealed.
“The order RCBT-5/87(pt-II) nowhere mentions that in case of only one vacancy it should be reserved for a BT tribe. Therefore revoking the corrigendum/notification adv. no. NPSC/ADVT-1/04 Dated 26th October, makes an appeal to the government to consider the issue at the earliest,” they added.
