Teachers asked to uphold responsibility moulding students

Kohima, Dec. 5:
A one-day sensitisation-cum-workshop on Performance Indicators (PINDICS) for Elementary School Teachers and a two-day Shaala Siddhi Training for Head Teachers and Teachers In-charge of Government Middle and Primary Schools (GMS & GPS) under Educational Block Research Centre (EBRC) Lhisemia Khel of Kohima Village commenced today at Ura Academy Hall.

EBRC L Khel has 38 GMS and GPS with a total 668 teachers and they would be undergoing rigorous training during the next three days.

Addressing the inaugural session, Sub-Divisional Education Officer (K) cum Chairman EBRC L Khel, Rokovolhoulie said teachers as the resources persons are an integral part to the society.

Teaching as a noble profession, he said, it is upto the teachers to mould the students before they take up the responsibility of the society in the future. Rokovolhoulie encouraged the teachers not to be disheartened even as there is less enrolment of students in their school but to be dedicated in imparting quality education.

He also called upon the teachers to be careful in registering the names of the children and also the scholarship forms and other documents of students.

PINDICS, he said, would help teachers in self-assessment of their performance. It is done twice in a year – June and December, he said.

Meanwhile, the SDEO (K) also informed that as per the Union Ministry of Human Resources, admission of students for new academic session has to be completed by January while there has to be a total of 200 working days for GPS and 220 for GMS. He appealed the teachers to fulfill it in the right earnest.

Touching on the topic “Self-Assessment an important tool for reflection and improvement of teachers”, said EBRC L Khel Coordinator, Visato Koso said “education has become a global entity where we as teachers and a role-model we need to think locally and act globally, thereby preparing ourselves thoroughly and deliver it to the children and students so that they can face the future challenges with confidence.

Short speech was also delivered by Senior Project Assistant District Mission Authority, SSA Kohima, Rokono while resource persons for the first day were Kelezhatuo and Vizoneilie.

Meanwhile, the two-days Shaala Siddhi Training for Head Teachers and Teachers In-charge of GMS & GPS will be conducted at EBRC L Khel, Kohima Village on December 6 and 7 with Viketuolie as the resource person.
