Dimapur, Nov. 2 (EMN): The Sumi Baptist Convention (SBC) consisting of three Sumi Baptist Associations (SBAK/ SABAK/ WSBAK) has made its stand clear not to tolerate any homosexual act on account of its firm biblical position.
Deliberating on the recent Supreme Court ruling on Section 377 of the Indian penal code decriminalising homosexuality, the convention resolved to strongly opposed homosexuality and further urged the Sumi churches not to approve marriage of same sex.
The resolution to this effect was taken during its biennial session held in Suruhuto Town Baptist Church hosted by the Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu under Zunheboto district on October 27 and 28 on the theme “Together we serve.”
The conference speakers were Rev. Hotokhu Jimo, SABAK executive secretary, Niholi Shohe, academic dean of Nito Theological College, and Rev. Kihoto, pastor of Chekiye Baptist Church.
Khehovi Yeptho, advisor of art and culture and tourism; KT Sukhalu, advisor of school education; and Dr. Hokishe Yeptho, chairman of Sumi Literature Board, exhorted the congregation.
