DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 29

Much inconveniences have surfaced following leakage of Class IX final question paper. The hardest hit victims were mathematics and science teachers especially from the Southern part and mainland India who were forced to cancel their train/ flight tickets to their native homes during winter break. Equally, the proposed education tours for most schools were cancelled owing to the unprecedented development. It may be mentioned here that the final examination of Class IX was re-scheduled on December 14 following leakage of the question paper which originated from Mt. Hermon School, Purana Bazaar, Dimapur, on November 20.
When queried on the mess following the leakage of question paper, NBSE Chairman Asano Sekhose, sought to find ways to tackle on such issue so that the same do not happen in future. She maintained there are strict written rules and instructions that question papers are to be kept in safe custody of the schools and not to be taken home.
While denying taking moral responsibility on the matter, Sekhose said the Board might approach the Law Department or other government agencies in dealing with the examination papers in future.
It may be mentioned here that there were cases of leakage of Board question papers in the past too.
Speaking exclusively to Eastern Mirror, Bithungo Kikion, President All Nagaland Private Schools Association (ANPSA), suggested NBSE should give security to all board question papers like HSLC and HSSLC papers and have to deposit the same at treasury office.
“It is not relevant to hand over the Board question papers over full authority to the schools,” he said while adding they need to get together and chalk out strategies so that the same mistakes (leakage of papers) do not happen in future.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity, proprietor and principal of one of the reputed school in Dimapur remarked the recent hassle caused by leakage of question papers have cause lots of hardships not only to teachers but also to the school managements and parents.
While regretting the incident, he expressed his compassion and sympathy to those teachers who are suppose to leave to their home town but have to change their programme at the end of the day.
It may be noted that more than five thousands trains tickets have to be cancelled as most of the Maths and Science teachers were from South and mainland India. Besides, most of the schools have planed educational tour in accordance with the examination routine.
Perhaps, it is high time now NBSE learned lesson from past experiences and do the needful particularly in matter relating to leakage of question papers.
