Students urged to inculcate work culture

Dimapur, Jan. 13 (EMN): Commissioner-secretary to the government of Nagaland I Himato Zhimomi has urged students to inculcate work culture in order to make the society self reliant.
Zhimomi was addressing the annual general conference of the Khaghaboto Area Students’ Union that was conducted at L Hotovi village. A press release from the union on Sat. informed about the event.
Stating that growth and progress of the society depends on everyone, the comm. secy. encouraged the youth to be work-cultured to be self-reliant and self-dependent. He advised the students not to be dependent on others. Otherwise, he said, ‘There will be a day when the world will no more regard the Nagas as economically unique people.’
The chief guest explained further: ‘From our forefathers’ time, Nagas have remained economically unique as they depended on no one but worked hard with honesty and remained self sufficient.’ Talking about how best to maintain and uphold the integrity of economic uniqueness of the community, Zhimomi said, ‘This is something we must think seriously and maintained that only way is everyone should work.’ There are lots of opportunities to explore, work and thus improving the economical status of the society, he said.
On job opportunities, the officer said ‘everyone cannot get government jobs and those who wish to enter government agencies have to qualify themselves through competitive exams.’ He told them that technical and skill-based education will give them better chances at landing jobs.
Pointing out that there were more opportunities in the private sector, he said 90 % of economic generation comes through the private sector. Therefore youths should enter the private sector and avail maximum opportunities, he said.
The conference will culminate on Sunday.
