Dimapur, Oct. 11 (EMN): With the reported alarming rate of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infections in the State, educational institutions and social workers were asked to contain the virus and address the issue while working out on a solution before the population is exhausted.

This was advocated by Nagaland University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Pardeshi Lal at the foundation cum graduation day of Northeast Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), Dimapur, as the chief guest on October 11 at Don Bosco Institute of Development and Leadership (DBIDL) hall, Don Bosco campus, Dimapur.

Stating that the social work students are instrumental in reckoning major issues, Lal called on the students to take up issues with full dedication as he reminded that the present take on issues are ‘half cooked.’

“You need to keep a track on societal issues to come to a solution which can be a key to success,” exhorted the educationist. Keep chasing the mission that the NEISSR institute has identified for the student community, urged Prof. Lal.

Altogether 43 students of NEISSR second batch graduated today.

Bishop of Kohima Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, who is also the chairman of NEISSR, graced the occasion as the guest of honour.

Earlier, the invocation was pronounced by Holy Cross Church Dimapur parish priest Rev. Fr. PJ Thomas, while NEISSR principal Dr. Fr. CP Anto delivered the welcome address and the vote of thanks was rendered by NEISSR vice principal Rev. Fr. John Poji.
