Storm destroys dozens of houses in Bokajan; roads blocked

Diphu, May 2 (EMN): Heavy storm at Bokajan area in Assam destroyed dozens of houses while the highway along the NH39 were blocked after the storm destroyed series of trees.

The storm that occurred on May 2 lasted for more than 3 hours.

Bormathi, Horimanthi, Khotkhoti under Bokajan were badly affected by the cyclonic rain.

Eastern Mirror correspondent during a telephonic conversation with a local MLA Bokajan Dr. Numal Momin, it was informed that the storm lashed out in the area around 3 pm where many nearby villages were badly affected and caused havoc among the travellers of NH 39.

Momin said that the ARO’s in Bokajan are surveying the storm effected area.

Exact figure of affected families could not be ascertained as the survey was still in process till the filing of this report.

No one was injured in the storm informed sources.
