State observes World Blood Donors Day

Dimapur, June 14 (EMN): Commemorating the World Blood Donors Day, members of the Red Ribbon Club from People’s College, Mokokchung, along with NGOs and doctors from Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) has organised a blood donation camp on June 14.
The programme was organised jointly by MDVBDA and DAPCU in collaboration with Blood Bank IMDH on the theme “Be there for someone else.”
Organisers informed that personnel from the 44 Assam Rifles, members of the Red Ribbon Club from People’s College, Mokokchung Press Club, and individuals had voluntarily come forward to donate blood on the occasion.
In a related function, Peren Government College has observed the World Blood Donors Day on the theme “Be there for someone else” and with the slogan “Give blood, save life” on June 14 with Ngauzeulungbe, district ICTC supervisor, as the resource person.
Ngauzeulungbe, while speaking on the theme, shared on the need and importance of blood donation.
Christy Putlang, STS RNTCP, also gave a brief presentation on Tuberculosis and services available at the District Hospital.
The programme was chaired by Ekiebe, assistant accountant DAPCU, while the welcome address was delivered by Sazutlak Domta, assistant professor and nodal officer RRC. The college’s principal, Albert also exhorted the members.
A total of 165 persons attended the programme wherein 20 students availed free blood grouping and were screened for HIV.
The programme was jointly organised by District AIDS Prevention & Control Unit and Red Ribbon Club of Peren Government College.
