State observes Independence Day with gusto

Dimapur, August 15 (EMN): Along with the rest of the nation, the 71st Independence Day was celebrated with pomp and gaiety across the State which also witnessed exhibition organised by various departments.

Mokokchung: Along with rest of the country 71st Independence Day was celebrated at Imkongmeren Sports Complex here today with the Parliamentary Secretary of Social Welfare, Merentoshi R Jamir, as the chief guest.
The chief guest unfurled the national flag and took salute from the march past contingents. The celebration also witnessed various special presentations by students of Mayangnokcha GHSS and Fazl Ali College and brass band displayed by 44 Assam Rifles.
Cultural folk dances and songs were performed by Naga Wadir Club Ungma village, Ao Sungkum Cultural Club Mokokchung village, Longsalong Cultural Club Mokokchung Town and Longjang Medemsanger Cultural Club Mokokchung Town.
Altogether 14 contingents including band party of 44 AR and 2nd NAP led by parade commander Imo Longchar, SDPO Mokokchung, and A Coy Commander 2nd NAP participated in the programme.
A total of 26 persons received the district award, which was given away by the chief guest.

Wokha: Thousands of people from all walks of life gathered at local ground Wokha to witness the 71st Independence Day celebration with Mmhonlumo Kikon, minister of Geology & Mining, Border Affairs Nagaland, as the chief guest.
To mark the occasion, national flag was hoisted in all government offices and institution followed by feeding of patients at Mhondamo Memorial District Hospital, Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital and 28th AR Hospital.
While highlighting on the various achievements made by the State government, the chief guest encouraged the citizens to join hands towards transforming India into a vibrant country.
Felicitation and prize awards were given to the best farmers in the district followed by inaugural of stalls by the chief guest.
Presentation of male voice by Chonben Odyuo & group, folk songs by Wokha town Lakhuti woman cultural troupe, Longsa Epyung Tera Okho, Mount Tiyi College Wokha and folk dance from students of Libemo Memorial School Wokha were the highlights of the prgramme. Nepali dance was also presented by Nepali cultural troupe Wokha, while the Adolescent Girls Club of GHS, Wokha performed choreography. Altogether fifteen parade contingents participated in the march past.

Dimapur: Dimapur observed the Independence Day at DDSC Stadium with the NLA Speaker, Imtiwapang Aier, as the chief guest who unfurled the National Flag and took salute from 17 parade contingents.
The day was also marked by cultural extravaganza and cultural show presented by Burkhang Cultural Society M Kachari, Chang Cultural Troupe Dimapur, Chakhesang Cultural Troupes Dimapur, Zeliang Cultural Troupes Dimapur and Dog show by 173 CRPF and special song.
The chief guest also inaugurated the exhibition stalls put up by different department agencies and societies. Other highlights of the day included football exhibition match between Dimapur Veterans Football Association and Dimapur Refree Association and beating of retreat by 32 Assam Rifles.

Kiphire: The 71st Independence Day was celebrated in Kiphire with C Kipili Sangtam, minister of Power as the chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the national flag, inspected the parade, delivered the Independence Day speech and took salute from 14 parade contingents including VG band party.
Presentation of traditional dance by Phelunger village union Kiphire town and Tikhir woman union Kiphire town, entertainment item by Marlen Solo, choreography by Trinity School, martial arts display by Taekwon-do Association, Khukri Dance by 7th AR and band display by 7th AR Kiphire were the other highlights of the day.

Tuensang: Tuensang celebrated Independence Day with CM Chang, Advisor of for Planning and Coordination as the chief guest. He reviewed the parade review contingents and took the Rashtriya salute from 16 contingents namely DEF Tuensang, 3rd NAP Battalion, VG Ngangpong, VG Khudei, Ex- Servicemen, NCC Sao Chang Government College, NCC HSS, NCC Loyem School, NCC GHSS, NCC GHS Chaba, BGS 3rd NAP High School, Saramati Open Troop, GHSS Thangjam, St. John Higher Secondary School, St. Joseph School and GHS Hakushang.

Zunheboto: Zunheboto observed the 71st Independence Day at the local ground with minister of National Highways and Political Affairs, G Kaito Aye as the chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the national flag and received salute from the parade contingents. As part of Independence Day celebration, various associations paid visited homes and institutions.

Mon: Minister of Rural Development, EE Pangteang Konyak unfurled the national flag on the occasion of the Independence Day celebration 2017 in Mon Headquarter and took Rashtriya salute from 22 contingents.
Exhibition football match was played between Officers Club, Mon, and DEF, Mon, which was followed by prize distribution and display of Band Retreat by 6th NAP Pipe Band

Advisor of DUDA and Neped, Pangnyu Phom, inaugurating the exhibition stalls during the Independence Day celebration in Longleng on August 15.

Longleng: In Longleng, the 71st Independence Day was celebrated with Pangnyu Phom, Advisor of DUDA & NePED, as the chief guest at local football ground. The chief guest unfurled the national flag and took salute from 16 parade contingents comprising of DEF Longleng (2 Contigents), Village Guard of Hukphang, Mt. Carmel High School, St. Joseph High School (2 Contingents), Christian High School (2 Contingents), GHS Nyengching, Christ King High School, GHSS Longleng, Yingli College, Phom Lempong School and Good Shepherd School.

Peren: The 71st Independence Day was celebrated at Multi-Disciplinary Outdoor Sports complex (MDOSC) in Peren headquarters with the Deputy Commissioner, Zarenthung Ezung, as the chief guest.
The chief guest unfurled the tri-color and took Rashtriya salute from six contingents led by parade commander LS Kikon comprising of 9th NAP (IR) Battalion, DEF, Sainik School Punglwa, NCC Peren College, Barail Valley School Jalukie and 36 Assam Rifles Band platoon.
The chief guest also inaugurated the exhibition-cum-sales stalls put up by the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), New Peren Youth Organisation, Sunday School Department Perenlui and Peren District Legal Services Authority.

Phek: Phek observed the 71st Independence Day celebration at the local ground with Neiba Kronu, minister of Environment & Forest, Climate Change as the chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the national tri-colour and took salute from 20 march past contingents.
The chief guest also inaugurated the exhibition stalls put up by various departments and SHGs. The evening programme witnessed open penalty shootout organised by Phek Town Youth Society. The programme concluded with beating of the retreat by 22nd Assam Rifles.

Delhi: Nagaland House Delhi observed the Independence Day with the State Home minister Y Patton as the chief guest, who also unfurled the national flag in presence of L Khumo Khiamniungam, Parliamentary Secretary, Land Revenue, Village Guards & Women Resource Development, officials and staff of Nagaland House Delhi and students and citizens of State of Nagaland, residing in Delhi. The minister exhorted to work hard to achieve the goal of a modern India as espoused by Prime Minister.

Chozuba: Chozuba town celebrated the 71st Independence Day with the Parliamentary Secretary of Mechanical Engineering, NSMDC, Er. Vikho-o Yhoshu, as the chief guest, who also unfurled the national flag.
Host of dignitaries, heads of offices, GBs and public leaders attended the function. The chief guest also took the Rashtriya salute from the parade contingents. The day was marked with cultural display by Chozuba village council, Yoruba village council, special song by Kusholhu DB and award for best employee by Service Forum Chozuba.

Aboi: Abpi celebrated the 71st Independence Day at the local ground with the Parliamentary Secretary of Art & Culture, Eshak Konyak, as the chief guest. The chief guest inspected the parade contingents comprising of 10 contingents led by Noknyie DEF, VG, NCC, GHSS, St. John School, Wangka School, Public School, Paramount School, Emmanuel School and GMS Aboi.
Other highlights included presentation of choreography by students of Little Flower School and drill display by Public School, Aboi. The chief guest also inaugurated the KVK stall.

Mangkolemba: Mangkolemba celebrated the 71st independence Day with T Imtiwapang Aier, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mangkolemba, as the chief guest. He unfurled the national flag and took salute from seven parade contingents.
About 4000 people including officers/ officials, leaders of different organisations, village dignitaries attended the function. The programme was marked by presentation of folk songs presented by Ongpangkong Union, while the cultural dance was presented by Waromung village.
The chief guest also inaugurated the exhibition stalls organised by Department of Rural Development under Mangkolemba, Longchem and Tsurangkong blocks.
