Dimapur, March 23 (EMN): The two-day training programme in advocacy skills organized by the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority concluded on March 22. The event, which was held in the premises of the Gauhati High Court’s Kohima bench, from 9:30 am, was conducted in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Legal & Professional Development (IILPD), Kohima bench, and the government of Nagaland.

The organisers issued a press release on Saturday informing about the event. The organisers informed that the trainees were divided into several groups for a programme that included discussions and practical sessions on how to analyse cases, conduct case analysis in a court, how to handle a witnesses by a lawyer during examination and engage in ‘oral arguments.’

N Kotiswar Singh, the bench’s judge and executive chairman of the state’s legal service authority, addressed the event. He remarked that the training will help the participants in the long run ‘with confidence for presenting their cases.’

In total, 73 lawyers participated in the ‘advocacy skills’ training event, the organisers stated.
The advocacy skills training is a programme run by Indian Institute of Legal and Professional Development, which was stated to use advanced methods known as “learning by doing” practical sessions, which is said to be used in most jurisdictions around the world.

‘The faculty members as trainers have been working purely on pro bono basis since 2002, imparting advocacy skill training to thousands of lawyers during the Weekend Programme within court premises across the country,’ the updates added.
