State honours personnel, NGO for meritorious service

Kohima, Aug. 15: On the occasion of the 72nd Independence Day, 13 officers from across the state were awarded the prestigious Governor’s Commendation Certificate in recognition of their various contributions to the service of the people.

The names of the officers were announced during the state level Independence Day celebration on Wednesday at the Nagaland Secretariat Plaza in Kohima. The awardees include: additional director of Land Resources department, T Renben Lotha, in recognition of his dedication and innovation in uplifting the socio-economic life of the rural and underprivileged people through the cultivation of coffee and rubber; SDO (C) Wokha T Lanusenla Longkumer, for dedicated service in handling law and order situations and streamlining the functioning of office matters relating to issue of Inner Line Permits (ILP); SDAO Kohima Seyievonuo for her efforts in preparing contingency paddy nurseries and distributing them to all project areas as well as some of the most remote villages; EAC Longmatra Kiphire Sangpangchang Longkumer for exemplary courage amidst continuous indiscriminate firing from miscreants during the Sitimi village incident and risking his life village incident and risking his life to bring the situation under control; Divisional Forest Officer Dimapur K Ihevi Aomi for commitment in recording the highest government revenue (during 2017-18) since the inception of Dimapur Forest Division and in development and protection of government land; UBSI in DEF Dimapur Joseph Zeliang for bravery in the field frontage of armed miscreants to rescue victims and detection of high profile cases; UBSI of DEF Dimapur Tiayanger Ao, for proficiency in tackling anti socials and various forms of crimes by dedication and loyalty towards his senior officers; 4th NAP havildar Nesavotuo Zatsu Angami, for devotion to duty and standing out among peers for his remarkable discipline and capabilities; SDO (Housing) Mon junior engineer, Solen Konyak for sincerity, honesty, hardwork and dedication to profession and always found to be ready for any assignment even beyond his call of duty; Veterinary Hospital Dimapur animal attendant Govinda Sharma, for ‘work culture and being gentle and soft in handling of animals’ and prompt service to patients and clients; SDO (Electrical) No.-I EE Division Kohima, Tsiamchi Ndang for contribution in implementing important project and schems introduced by the power department; SDO (Transmission) EE Transmission Division Dimapur Rokobeito Iralu for dedication in maintaining transformers in and around Dimapur, involving risks backed up by limited resources and manpower under his disposal; chairman Sona Devi Sethi Charitable Trust Dimapur (NGO) Binod Kumar Sethi for exemplary philanthropist work and also for his charitable clinic where patients receive free medical check-up and medicines at discounted prices.

Governor’s Gold Medal awardees

The Governor’s Gold Medal awardees were: Joint director Agriculture directorate N Jacob Yanthan, additional commissioner of Taxes Dimapur Wochamo Odyuo, constable 15th NAP (IR) Mahila battalion Chumukedima Aneang Konyak, agricultural inspector DAO Longleng Bongkam Phom, SDO (C) Seyochung Kiphire Meyangzungba Jamir, and Project 72 Hours (NGO).

The Governor’s Gold Medals were also presented to Imlimadong Chang, UBSI, DEF, Tuensang; Sukho Movi, UDC, Nagaland University, Kohima campus; Namheu Khate, SDO (Electrical) No-I, Dimapur; Dr. Hovithal N Sothu, dy. director (Training) of ATI, Kohima; Jangponglemba, range forest officer, officer in-charge, Singphan Wildlife Sanctuary; Sendenyu Community Biodiversity & Wildlife Conservation Committee (SCBWCC)  Sendenyu village, Tseminyu Sub-Division;

Also, the  Governor’s Gold Medals announced on the Republic Day 2018 were presented to SK Dhar, junior engineer PWD (H) attached to Nagaland House New Delhi; Y Kihovi Chishi, Electrician, EE, Electrical Division, Zunheboto; R Tochumong Chang, dy. commandant, 11th NAP (IR) Bn.; R Dibambo Zeliang, asst. commandant, 9th NAP (IR) Bn.; Vikehieto Kenna-o, inspector, OC Kiphire Police Station; TL Kiusumong Tikhir, ADC Kohima; Bhandari Town Eloe Hoho, NGO, Bhandari, Wokha District; and Rangkhamong Sangtam, VDB secretary Longkhitpeh village, Chare, Tuensang.

Police Medal for distinguished service

The Police Medal for Distinguished Service was also announced for IGP (NAP) Kohima, Bendang Lemtur and President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service for IGP (crime) SR Saravanan.

Other awards that were presented included the Union Home Minister Medal for Excellence in Police Training (For the year 2015-16, Indoor Category) for ABSI 13th NAP (IR) attached to Counter Insurgency and Anti-Terrorist School (CIATS), Ruzaphema C Apong; Union Home Minister Medal for Excellence in Police Training (For the year 2015-16, Outdoor Category) for havildar 14th NAP (IR) attached to Counter Insurgency and Anti-Terrorist School (CIATS) Ruzaphema Bonitho Pojar.
