State gears up for Hornbill Festival

Dimapur, Nov. 1 (EMN): In a run-up to the ensuing annual Hornbill Festival, an emergency meeting was held in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, on November 1 to discuss on the preparation and other logistics in order to ensure success of the festival.

Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, said that the meeting was convened to discuss how to go about it and carry out the assigned works and also invite suggestions from the officers.

The house discussed on the issues of road maintenance, power supply, POS machine/ ATM, stalls etc., wherein the concerned officers assured to provide the requirements for the successful of the event. On the issue of traffic problem and security, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kohima, Joseph Hesso, has sought the cooperation of the uniformed personnel, He said that security would be detailed according to area wise and its requirements. He also requested the Phesama and Kigwema representatives to provide volunteers to assist the police personnel in checking any untoward activities during the event.

The DC also suggested setting up of one ‘KFC’ stall at Kisama in order to cater to the needs of tourists for which he has requested the concerned department to look into the matter. He requested the KMC to direct all the colonies/ wards to conduct mass social work.

In responding to the DC, KMC administrator, Kethosituo Sekhose, enlightened that directions have already been issued wherein it has decided to confer award to the cleanest colony or ward during its annual programme.
