DSC 6370“Kinika ase Dimapur” (Nagamese for ‘how are you’) greeted Kailash Kher to an enthusiastic Dimapur crowd on Friday, Dec.1 at the Dimapur stadium as he took the stage at around 9:0 pm.
Despite the long wait, he was greeted by the patient excited fans who had been eagerly waiting since 5:00 pm to get a glimpse of the ‘Saiyyan’ ‘Teri Deewani’ and ‘Tu Jaane Na’ hitmaker.
‘Your love has brought me back to Dimapur and Nagaland……and it is always a pleasure to perform here,’ the star said to the crowd—the people were as he had hoped: the stadium was almost packed compared to the last year’s show.
In a humble and touching gesture Kailash Kher started his act dedicating his renowned song ‘Tu Jaane Na’ to Parliamentary Secretary for Music Task Force Khekaho Assumi’s late son Markbo.
The show which started at 6:15 pm had the crowd whining for Kailash Kher with the stadium echoing “We want Kailash Kher.”
Introducing his project band “Surfira”— an eight member band which was launched last year—Kher assured to assist talented artists. He has called out to artists to reach out through Surfira on social media.
Regional star Alobo Naga, who Kailash Kher referred to as “my Amu (Sumi for ‘elder brother’), performed one of Kher’s song which was a blend of Hindi and Nagamese.
The Hornbill International Music Festival 2017 was declared open by legislator Khekaho Assumi. In his brief address, he recounted the initial hiccups when the issue of shifting the venue for the Hornbill International Music Festival from Kohima to Dimapur was brought up. It was sorted out amicably though, it was informed.
