Dimapur, Dec. 4: Sawombung Sairem Youth Club (SSYC) won the Xth Jadonang Memorial Football Tournament 2016 by defeating Namdunlong Youth Club (NYC) 3- 1 in the final match played at Thau Sports Complex, Imphal, on December 4. The tournament was organised by Zeliangrong Football Association (ZFA).
The champion team SSYC received cash prize of Rs 1 lakh donated by Dipu Gangmei, MCS, ADM Ukhrul district and a winner trophy donated by Namsinrei Panmei, Chairman of ADC, Tamenglong, while the runners-up team NYC received cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with trophy donated by Dipu Gangmei, MCS, ADM Ukhrul district.
Best disciplined team of the tournament Duithanjang Youth Club (DYC) received cash prize of Rs. 10,000 with Cup, while the Best March Past team in the opening ceremony Chingmeirong Rongmei Youth Club (CRYC) received cash prize of Rs 10,000 with Cup.In the individual categories, Pougakdai Kamei of Namdunlong Youth Club (NYC) was declared Best player of the tournament. He received cash prize of Rs 5,000 with Cup donated by Johnny Gangmei of Majorkhul, Imphal. Golmei Dihem of Sawombung Sairem Youth Club (SSYC) was declared the Best Keeper of the tournament. He received cash prize of Rs 5000 with Cup. Jiangongrei Dangmei of Gaidimjang Football Club (GFC) was the highest scorer of the tournament. He scored a total of 8 goals in the tournament. He received cash prize of Rs 5,000 with Cup donated by Chung & Chungs of Namguilong, Imphal.
The closing ceremony was attended by Gaikhangam, Deputy Chief minister of Manipur as the chief guest, while Ngamthang Haokip, Minister of IFCD, Printing & Stationary, Manipur; and D Korungthang, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, GAD & CADA, Manipur, attended the function as Guests of Honour. Dipu Gangmei, MCS, and Meibon Phaomei, Deputy Mayor of Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) both chairman and vice-chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Xth Jadonang Memorial Football Tournament 2016 were also present at the function.
