Dimapur, June 16 (EMN): District Task Force on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) and Mahila Shakti Kendra, Longleng, conducted a skill development training on June 14 at EBRC hall on the theme “Empowering women through skill training” for dropout girl students and unemployed women.

Robi Sangtam, Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC), Longleng, graced the inaugural occasion as a special guest. In his keynote address, Robi encouraged the trainees to utilise the opportunity to manifest their skill to bring about positive changes in their lifestyle and living standard of their family.

He pointed out that the presence of empowered and self reliant women is one indicator of a developed society. He, therefore, stated that DTF on BBBP and MSK of Longleng need to organise such training programme to empower and benefit the women folk for a vibrant society. He asserted that empowerment of women would not only benefit their family alone but play vital role to promote towards the growth and development of a society.

The inaugural programme was chaired by Phungla Phom, NSK women welfare officer, while an invocation and short speech was delivered by Henthai Phom, president of Phomla Hoichem.

The training was conducted with a vision to empower women through self employment and self reliance. Girl students and unemployed women of different age groups from town and villages enthusiastically attended the training programme.
