Special national integration camp of NCC culminates

Dimapur, Jan. 15 (EMN): The special national integration camp of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) which commenced from Jan. 2 at Patkai Christian College in Dimapur has concluded on Jan. 13.
The chief of staff of 3rd Corps Maj. Gen. Atanu K Pattanaik presided over the valedictory function. This was informed in a press release issued by the PRO (defence) on Sun.
In his speech Maj. Gen. Atanu K Pattanaik praised the cadets for ‘showcasing their talents and putting up a high standard cultural programme.’ The official was stated to have talked to the cadets about his experience as a NCC cadet and how present day NCC activities have progressed ‘many fold with modern technology and awareness through social media.’ Also, by talking about his experience and assignments to foreign countries, he gave the cadets a discourse about opportunities they can avail in the armed forces.
Further, Pattanaik advised them to work in unity for the betterment and progress of the country. He asserted that ‘every individual must hone their professional skills and contribute towards the welfare of our society.’
Saying that the country was ‘fortunate to have a large youth force’ and that the society have expectations from them, he urged the cadets to continue to work hard with commitment and dedication, and to become responsible citizens of the country.
Maj. Gen. Atanu K Pattanaik encouraged the cadets to ‘remember their mother tongue, traditions, culture, and roots.’
Though there are eight universities in the Northeast and lakh of graduates, Pattanaik lamented, many educated youths are without jobs. He exhorted the cadets ‘to work hard and refrain from self canter agenda,’ the updates informed.
The chief of staff said that the NCC cadets were ‘lucky to be part of a disciplined organisation.’ For that reason, he said, they should spread the message of unity and discipline, and of unity and diversity throughout the country.
Further, in his concluding remarks at the event, the group commander of Kohima group Brig. SS Dhankhar appreciated the event as a ‘great success.’ He congratulated the cadets and thanked them for having displayed ‘exemplary discipline and skills’ in all the activities that were undertaken during the camp.
Emphasising on the importance of the event, the commander expressed hope that the cadets would spread the message of unity and discipline to the entire nation when they go back to their respective region.
‘The north-eastern region being rich in resources, (it) can take India forward. One Nagaland can light up the whole of India with its coal resources or oil resources and become golden Nagaland,’ Dhankhar asserted.
