SON conducts orientation programme

Mokokchung, March 13 (EMN): Special Olympics Nagaland (SON), a chapter of Special Olympics Bharat, a national sports federation designated by the ministry of Youth affairs & sports conducted an orientation programme at the Imkongmeren sports complex.
During the orientation program, the trainers and coaches said SON will be hosting district games for people with disabilities under Khelo India scheme 2018 for the first time.
They also revealed that the districts selected in Nagaland for the district games were Mon, Mokokchung, Wokha, Peren and Dimapur where they will organise these events in coordination with the local NGOs, district sports department, churches and SSA based in the districts.
They also said that Community Coaches Training Program (CCTP) will be imparted to local volunteers, NGO workers and family members by SON coaches to ensure all PwDs in the districts can avail these opportunities for their social, emotional and physical development.
Altogether 25  volunteers representing various Mokokchung based NGOs, college students and youth leaders attended this orientation program where they were felicitated with certificate of participation in the CCT program.
It may be mentioned that sports and games for Person with Disabilities (PwDs) will also be conducted by SON at Imkongmeren Sports complex on March 14 from 8 am where Mokokchung Deputy commissioner, Sachin Jaiswal IAS will grace the program as the chief guest.
