DIMAPUR, JULY 4

The Survival Nagaland has condemned what it called as a “dastardly attack of a one Naga elder by some non-local traders at Murgi Patti in Dimapur on July 2 arising out of an argument due to some misunderstanding from a price negotiation.”
A press release from the SN on Saturday demanded the authorities should “punish the culprits who now are behaving more than land-owners.” Whatever maybe the cause of the argument, how can some non-locals become so bold and audacious enough to assault and beat mercilessly our people, even an elder here in our own homeland, it stated.
“This is a big question for all Nagas to ponder. Instead of being ever grateful for letting them settle in our land and carry out their earnings from whatever professions they do, some outsiders with the patronage of our own people are destroying the very Naga fabric of our Naga homeland.”
It also send a message to “those who are patronizing and backing these outsiders” that they would be answerable “to the upcoming Naga generations for selling away our birthright at the altar of easy money by giving them protection” in lieu of “revenue and protection tax.” The SN asked the various NPGs if their “great fight for sovereignty” has now been reduced to a “protection racket.”
The Survival Nagaland also wishes to know those who are holding the chairs in those welfare associations, business committees of these various localities and markets whether their chairs and their easy money today are more important or our land and generations? What is happening now will happen again if these backers, protectors and Godfathers are not cleaned up by all the young Naga generation.”
It warned that a day will come when “we will be paying the protection tax to these outsiders in our own land if a drastic change is not brought by every right thinking Nagas.” We are the ones who have become parasites in our own land with all economic activities and spaces occupied by the outsiders, it stated.
“Both overground and underground authorities are only ever-ready at any time to protect these outsiders and punish our own people no matter whatever the case maybe. The DMC,DCCI and Naga Council should also instead of issuing diplomatic press releases merely condemning these frequent acts from time to time, they should let out the business spaces of New Market, Hazi Park and NCD buildings to our own Naga unemployed youths and entrepreneurs also.”
The young Naga generation has reached a saturation stage where things will explode if these issues are not attended immediately by our leaders because of their actions for love of easy money and complacent attitudes. It is by their direct or indirect patronization that these outsiders have gained so much of their foothold where we are becoming insecure and fearful of our own lives, it stated.
