Mokokchung, July 14 (EMN): The Spearhead Motorsport Initiative (SMI), Mokokchung will be hosting the fourth edition of its yearly motorsport event “Throttle Thrust IV” from August 1 to the 3rd, at Mangmetong village some 25 kilometres away from Mokokchung town.

Throttle Thrust IV will present three formats of competition: Hill climb, ‘Super Sprint’ and cross  country. This was announced during a press conference on July 14.

Throttle Thrust IV Convener Aolong Imchen said   that on August 1, on-spot   registration and scrutiny will be done at the Multi-purpose Sports Complex in  Mokokchung from 10 am to 5 pm.

On day-two, the Mangmetong Village Council will flag off the Hill climb competition where above 1300 cc, below 1300 cc and SUV category can participate. They informed that the hill climb competition will run on hundred percent tarmac covering approximately 3.3 kilometres.

The third day of the event will be the Cross Country and Super Sprint format competitions. The Cross Country format will be exclusively for SUV Category and it will run on mud and dirt surface covering approximately 2.5 km.

The Super Sprint format will be for above 1300 cc and below 1300cc category on tarmac surface covering a distance of approximately 3.3 Kilometres, it was informed.

The convenor of Throttle Thrust IV disclosed that Throttle Thrust is a yearly event of the SMI which is held to promote adventure and motorsport tourism in the district.

The event is also organised to promote motorsport events and to show people from outside of the district and states the abilities and capabilities of our people in the field of motorsport.

Imchen also added that Throttle Thrust event aims at promoting Ao villages and also the culture and traditions of the Ao people.

They also informed that participants from Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Delhi and Nagaland are accepted to participate in the event. Minister Temjen Imna Along consented to attend the prize distribution as the chief patron.

It is to be noted that the past Throttle Thrust events have been organised at Mokokchung, Longmisa and Longkhum.  Winners will receive a total cash prize of up to INR 3 lakh with trophies and certificates.
