Diphu, August 5 (EMN): The news regarding the demand of the Masjid-committee, Hamren; that has surfaced in dailies of Karbi-Anglong, who has submitted an application to the Officer of Special Duty (OSD), Branch-Secretary Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Hamren, West Karbi Anglong. The application appealed the parcelling of two kathas of land for the purpose of Masjid and Madrassas beside Agriculture Colony, Hamren West Karbi Anglong.

Shillong Karbi Students Association (SKSA) has opposed to the intention of the Masjid-Committee. In a press statement issued by SKSA President Rup Kumar Enghi and General Secretary Teddyson Kramsa, stated that as per the paragraph 20 of Sixth-Schedule of the Indian Constitution; Karbi Anglong is under tribal areas, which implies that the land belong to the Schedule-Tribe (Hills) of Karbi Anglong, to which there is no allocation to the illegal non-ST/outsiders.

The press statement also mentioned that Shillong Karbi Students Association (SKSA) is not against any religion, but rather oppose to the intention of the land allocation to the illegal non-ST.

While condemning the land intruders who disguised themselves under religious banner, the SKSA stands against the intended move of the Masjid-Committee, Hamren and added that it will always stand against any such case.
