Dimapur, August 21 (EMN): The All Sumi Students Union (SKK) has formed a steering committee on August 19 at Zunheboto. The move is part of the organisation’s ‘step-up’ for the Clean Election campaign, a part of the students’ mission ‘Doing Right’ (Achipiu Mlahnni).
‘In a meeting comprising of Sumi frontal organisations such as the Sumi Hoho, Sumi Kukami Hoho, Sumi Totimi Hoho and all the executive secretaries of the Sumi Baptist churches associations, a steering committee was formed so as to entrench and spread the campaign throughout the Sumi areas from the grassroots level in letter and in spirit,’ a press release from the organisers informed this week.
The committee has appointed Ninoto Awomi, president of the SKK as convener; Vihuto Asumi as co-convener; and Vikai Yeptho, general secretary of the SKK; and Joshua Sheqhi, advocate, as the secretaries.
The members took a number of resolutions: all the areas and ranges will form a core implementation committee (CIC) before September 15 and will inform the steering committee; all the CIC members will have a joint meeting on the 22nd of September at the SKK office in Zunheboto; all the range / unit presidents will be a member of the steering committee.
Further, all the Sumi Baptist churches associations, Sumi Kukami Hoho, and the Sumi Totimi Hoho are to inform through a letter mass participation in the Clean Election campaign; all the churches should conduct a Clean Election campaign Sunday, the press release stated.
‘In order to show its solidarity, all churches should hoist a white flag measuring 1ft by 1ft by 1st October 2017. All the intending candidates of the Zunheboto district will be invited by the steering committee and their manifestos and declaratory pledge appended by their signatures publicly. The place and date will be notified on a later date by the committee,’ the organisers informed.
Further, in order to enable well-wishers and members who are willing to contribute to the Clean Election campaign of the SKK, the executive secretaries of the Sumi Baptist churches associations will request all in concern for the stated matter.
