Photography enthusiasts in Dimapur are all set to celebrate World Photography Day on August 19 with the theme “Beautiful Nagaland.”
The Photography Club of Dimapur is organising its first photography contest to commemorate the day in collaboration with Nikon Experience Zone (Redefine). The event is to be conducted at Le Bistro in Dimapur on August 19.
This was informed by the club’s officials at a press conference that was conducted at a local hangout, the Republic of Hiyo, in Dimapur on Wednesday.
The idea behind the event is to encourage people, particularly youngsters, to inspire change in them and the community through photography.
Besides photo exhibitions, this year’s contest will showcase the varied sides of Nagaland that many, even citizens of the state, often fail to notice, the organisers said.
The club has called for entries to the contest. Interested persons may submit three photographs at maximum; captions must accompany the images. The photographs should have a maximum resolution of 10 mb, 300 dpi. The entries may be emailed to photographyclubdimapur@gmail.com by August 15.
The club informed that the photographs should be printable. There are to be no watermarks on them. The theme of the pictures should be limited only to Nagaland. The images can be taken from cell phones or DSLR cameras.
There will be two winners and ten consolation prizes with prizes worth Rs. 20,000 to be won. The winning photographs will be displayed at the World Photography Day event.
The club will also arrange interactive sessions for participants which is open to all on the day.
Photography Club Dimapur is a group of amateur and professional photographers whose main initiative is to promote the passion of photography in the state. The club has organised about eight exhibitions encouraging amateur, hobbyist, and professional photographers.
