Dimapur, March 14: Several councils and unions in Dimapur have decided to lift the Sunday closure by directing all the businesses dealing with perishable items, groceries, confectionaries, medicine, hotels, restaurants, and travel agencies to open starting from Sunday March 17, within Dimapur municipal area and east Dimapur jurisdiction.
A joint press release by a board comprising the Naga Council Dimapur, Gaon Burah Union Dimapur, Dimapur Urban Colony Chairman Federation, Naga Women Hoho Dimapur, Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries, and East Dimapur Business Association, was received here on Wednesday March 13.
To clarify the ambiguity of the statement, Eastern Mirror contacted NSCN (IM) authorities—the group that has enforced the closure. According to their response, the outfit is yet to finalise their response to the collective appeal.
Meanwhile, the release stated that the organisations have in ‘good faith’ appealed to the NSCN (IM) to lift the closure imposed on Sunday on those businesses dealing with daily essential items; but there has been no response from the group, so it has been “positively considered as approved.”
It further notified that any shop establishment not following this directive will be severely penalised.
