Dimapur, Dec. 15 (EMN): Basing on specific inputs regarding presence of NSCN (K) cadres in Santam Ward in Mon town, Mon Battalion of the Assam Rifles arrested on suspected NSCN (K) cadre during search operation on December 14.
According to the Assam Rifles press release, the accused has been identified as Yogpei Konyak, son of Panji of Longwa village. The security forces recovered six donation receipts signed by ‘ss’ Gen. Nyemlang Konyak of NSCN (K), extortion receipts, four diaries with multiple extortion transaction entries, photographs of NSCN (K) cadres, gold jewellery receipts (Myanmar) of approximately INR 34,96,249 in Burmese Kyat currency.
It added that the accused along with the recovered items were handed over to Mon Police Station for further investigation.
