“ Jesus answered, “ I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

“ I am with you only for a short time, and then I go to the one who sent me. You will look for me but you will not find me; and where I am you cannot come.”

“ You do not know me or my Father, “ Jesus replied, “ if you knew me, you would know my Father also.”

“ I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sins. Where I go you cannot come.”

“ I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins.”

“ You will indeed drink from my cup, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father.”

“ But what about you? “ he asked. “ Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “ You are the Christ.”

“ “Yes ,it is as you say,” Jesus replied. “ But I say to all of you. In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

The seven passages of it speaks of revelation, salvation, then condemnation and promise. Every verse has its promise and for the truth to be grasped, it is only the Holy Spirit who can make us see and know. The wisdom Peter said of Christ was a jewel and the answer of it was God’s favour. The truths of John 14:6 are Christ ‘own words, proclaiming who he is and what he is. The disciples with him were involved in all his ventures and as close as they were to him, they lived in the deep truths of God’s word. ( Excepting one ) Every truth of the thousands of verses in the Bible points to Christ, as is evidenced from Genesis to Revelation. This statement also speaks so much of Christ ‘authority “No one ever spoke the way this man does, said the guards.” ( John 7:46 ) The One to come were known by the Prophets and the One who came were seen by the Apostles. This Jesus we preach was here on earth, went to heaven and now is here with us by the Holy Spirit.

The mystery of Christ amazed not only his followers but terrified even his enemies. The moment Christ was born of a virgin Mary, Herod tried to destroy him, then the teachers of the law but none of them could have the final say, all that was evidenced was fear in their eyes. History has it that Pilate, in remorse of what he did against Christ committed suicide. The mystery of his appearance on earth amazed everyone. The prediction of his death was said by himself and as said and written, everything came to pass. In the scripture it says of him “But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.” ( John 12:32 ) After his resurrection, he no longer used the same language but spoke more about heaven and the judgment to come. The disciplines who were with him treasured everything he said and the latter histories of their lives depicted the cross, sufferings and it was also they who stood firm till the end. This is the faith God desires, the devotion he honours. The way to the Father are in this verse and it is only by it that we can see God. The seven truths of this scripture are the only way to salvation and as the Holy Spirit is the only seal of it, we must live in the powers of it. The love of God is a mystery.

( John 7:33,34 ) ( John 8:19b ) ( 8:21 ) ( 8:24) ( Matthew 20:23 ) ( Mark 8:29) (Matthew 26:64)
