Imphal, Sep. 24 (EMN): Seven persons were injured after unidentified miscreants triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Imphal on Monday, police said.
The blast occurred in front of a vehicle spares shop in the congested locality of Majorkhul around 5:45 am.
According to Police, seven labourers suffered splinter injuries when the IED, suspected to have been planted by unidentified miscreants, exploded when workers are coming out for the day’s work.
The injured persons were evacuated to the nearby hospitals for treatment. Most of the injured people hail from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and presently staying in Imphal sustained injury at their leg, shoulder, and chest while one sustained injury at head.
The reason behind the explosion could not be ascertained.No armed group operating in the region claimed responsibility for the incident till the filling of this report.
Meanwhile police taken up a suo motu a case in connection and investigation is in progress, the police said.
The doctor attending the injured persons at the hospital told that medical aid was given and they are out of danger.
