Sensitisation prog on forest act held in Manipur

Imphal, March 25 (EMN): One day Sensitisation Programme on Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 was held on Saturday at EBC Mini-Auditorium, New Lamka in Manipur’s churachandpur district headquarters. Deputy Commissioner, Churachandpur R Sudhan, District Level Officers, State Police and Assam Rifles personnel and Village Chiefs attended the programme wherein Kham Suanmung Tawmbing, Divisional Forest Officer,Southern Forest Division, Churachandpur said that it is the duty of every citizen of India to protect the environment including forests, lakes, rivers and wildlife. All of us need to have compassion for living creatures, he added. Retired IFS officer A Bonbirdhwaja Singh also spoke on the implications of Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 in forest division and other related issues. The programme ended with words of gratitude from T Thanchinlian Assistant Conservator of Forests/South.
