Seminar for parents, teachers’ animation prog held

Dimapur, March 11 (EMN): St. John School, Razeba conducted one-day seminar on “How parents can help their children at home,” for parents on March 4.
Resource person, Rev. Fr. Dr. Philip Abraham SJ, principal of Nazareth High school, Pfutsero said every child is a precious gift of God and therefore every parent has a role to play in educating the child in collaboration with the school authority. He emphasized the importance of parents keeping constant in touch with their children’s performance and give constructive feedback to the concern authority for improvement.
He added, a good parent will always encourage and support to the institution by taking a special care of the child at home. He also interacted with the teachers and appreciated them for their selfless sacrifice they render to the Institution.
All together 80 parents participated in the seminar. The seminar concluded with the words of gratitude from Lawrence, on behalf of the parents.Earlier, invocation was pronounced by Vekuyi Dozo and students presented welcome song.
Another, two-day combine teachers animation programme fwas conducted at St. John School Razeba and St. Joseph School Zhavame on March 7 and 8, with Rev. Fr. Filex Monteiro SJ, principal of St. Paul Institute of Education, Phesama as resource person.
Fr. James Sangtam on behalf o the management gave a brief introduction and welcomed the resource person and team.
On the first day the resource person enabled the teachers to realize who teacher is and what he ought to be. Quoting the words of Rabendranath Tagor, “Teacher is a lamp who burns himself and lights,” he said a true teacher is like a mother who inspires and accompanies a child in his journey of learning.
He also said every child is a unique individual who needs a special attention and cannot be compared to anyone else. “A compassionate teacher not only inspires but also creates an opportunity for the students to come out with flying colours”, he added.
On the second day, Rev. Fr. Filex taught various methods and practical techniques of class room management. He highlighted the importance of lesson plan which is a powerful means of effective teaching. He also reminded the teachers that their life style should be a channel of inspiration.
A total of 30 teachers participated in the animation programme.
Virhulu Zholia, assistant teacher on behalf of the teachers expressed gratitude to the resource person for enabling them what they ought to be as a teacher.
