Self-help groups meet at income output conclave
Dimapur, Dec. 19: An annual general meeting of various women self-help groups was organised by Toka Multipurpose Cooperative Society (MPCS), on December 19, in Dimapur. About 100 members from different self-help groups attended the event.
K Kathi Chishi, secretary of Toka MPCS said in a brief speech to the gathering that the main objective of the event was to help women at the grass root find supplement or “induce help” to their income building and livelihood activities through loan assistance the organisation provides.
Chishi mentioned that the day’s event was also organized to connect and interact with members of the self-help groups.
“We want to help provide loans to women that are below poverty line, widows, single mothers and local women vendors,” he said. He talked about an upcoming scheme called the Vandhan scheme which aims at providing training.
Selected self-help groups were given sewing machines and sealing machines in recognition of their work and as a token of encouragement from the organization.
Chishi told Eastern Mirror that there were currently 75 self-help groups that had been given loan assistance.
