Seizing the moment

History has shown us that there comes a particular point of time in a people’s struggle where the consequence of a single failure to seize an opportune moment has many a times resulted in avoidable misfortunes of catastrophic proportions.
As a case example, the Allied powers should not have allowed Hitler to occupy Sudetendland of Czechoslovakia in the first place. Again, the moment Hitler stepped beyond Sudetendland into mainland Czechoslovakia, the Western Allies should have seized that opportunity to overwhelm Hitler’s Germany once and for all. As it is, it was because of Germany that the world had to suffer the First World War.A vast, major, diverse, sub-continent of a country like India cannot do justice to the different sections of its people unless it has strong political leadership. More so, when India has immediate next door neighbor like China, always combative and whose autocracy seems to be outperforming even western democracy. Then there is Pakistan, always suicidal and never ever giving an inch of breathing space to India even where it is due and very legitimate. It is no more surprising to see even Sri Lanka bracing and showing teeth during those times when India had weak leadership in New Delhi. Today, India has strong leadership in Narendra Modi. He fits the bill for India. His brand of authorative and decisive leadership is what India needs. India is a nation second to none and was in need of a leader second to none, which Narendra Modi fits in like a hand in glove. For the Nagas today there can never be a more opportune time and moment. Prime Minister Modi’s brand of leadership was what Nagas were waiting for. A doer, PM Modi has assured the Nagas and we must not fail him on our part.
Everything is falling into place for the Nagas. Nagas today are united as never before. There is political reconciliation, and an all party State Government to boot. We have a super consensus Chief Minister in TRZ, and a Godfather in N.Rio representing the whole in New Delhi. The dream and the common aim and objective of every single individual Naga to see and experience a solution to the Naga Political problem, once and for all time, is within sight and reach. This is the opportune moment which we must seize. Which we must not let go this time round.
Our Almighty living God has been so good to us. Just as has been told, He is working within us. He has and is working miracles. He has made the blind to see, the deaf to hear and the dumb to speak. He has even raised the dead to life again. He has chased out demons from within us, and broke bread with the untouchables. He has broken down age old barriers and superstitions, rebuked the upholders, and has freed us Nagas from slavery. He has given us a new framework of thinking. He has given us life.
After having given us so much, he will not allow us to go bad again. As has been told, He did not come in flesh and blood and die just for it all to be in vain, but for us all to be saved. He is not an advocate for revenge but simply proclaims that unbelievers will not be saved. We Nagas are proud believers and are therefore called Christians. The hour, the moment is approaching fast for the Nagas. Let us all be prepared and look eagerly forward to it.
In 1989, the fall of the Berlin wall – which had stood for 40 years as a symbol of the cold war – sparked the disintegration of the Soviet Union and brought an end to the cold war. It was also in 1989 that the downslide of the Congress began when it lost its majority and set off the growth of the BJP. This year 2015 is going to remain very significant for the Nagas just as 1989 was to the world and to the BJP. Much like the end of the Cold war in 1989, in this year 2015, the artificial barriers among fellow Nagas has been demolished for good. Also this year will remain significant because for the first time in India’s democratic electoral politics a unique partyless Government has been formed in Nagaland, for the sake of the unity of the Naga people as we look up to our destiny along with our most ever proud and respected Prime Minister Modi, and as envisaged by our ever present and living God.
Let us keep praying, and may God bless us all.
